This cake is delicious:

Four 1/2 ounce bottles red food coloring (2oz.)
2 tablespoons coccoa
1/2 cup vegetable shortening
11/2 cups sugar
2 eggs
1 cup buttermilk
21/4 cups cake flour
1 scant teasponn saly
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 tablespoon vinegar
mix the food coloring with the chocolate.
Cream the shortning and sugar together.
Add the whole eggs and coloring paste.
Blend in the cake flour (sift three times first), the buttermilk, and the salt.
Add the vanilla.
Remove from mixer and add by hand the vinegar and baking soda,. Bake in two well-greased and floured eight inch layer cake pans at 350degrees for 30-35 minutes.

FROSTING

1 stick margerine
8 tablespoons vegetable shortening
1 cup sugar
3 tablespoons regular flour
3/4 cupmilk
1 teaspoon vanilla
Cream the margering shortening and sugar.
Add the flour one tablespoon at a time.
Add room temperature milk and vanilla. Beat well.
